Sanremo, a well-known seaside resort on the Riviera dei Fiori, is known and famous for the Italian Song Festival which is hosted every year in its largest theater, the Ariston.

It is also renowned for the cultivation of flowers (celebrated every year with the flowery course Sanremo in Fiore), hence the name of the City of Flowers. In addition to this it hosts the arrival of the Milan-Sanremo cycling race (one of the most important cycling classics), the Tenco Award, the motoring rally, the Italian leg of the European Poker Tour, and is home to the Casino (one of the three present in Italy). A real jewel of the Ligurian Riviera, Sanremo is full of elegant buildings including Villa Ormond with its park full of exotic plants; Villa Nobel, where Alfred Nobel lived which today houses the museum on 19th century discoveries and inventions, Villa Zirio (home of the Symphony Orchestra, one of the oldest Italian musical foundations).
